Thanks KSTUZ for keeping your fingers crossed for me. I have my fingers and toes crossed as well. I am so happy you got approved. My doctor was thinking of fighting but said that if they fought and still lost, then it was final. That they wouldn't ever approve me. I didn't want that. She submitted everything again on Monday, so we will see how everything goes. I am so anxious to find out something.

Keep me updated on any news!!

I'm so sorry that happened to you. I am with Blue Cross and they approved me the first time we submitted. With that being said I really think it is all about the insurance company. Is there any way that if this doesn't go through you can switch insurance companies? Blue Cross doesn't even have a wait time anymore.

I had BLUE Cross for 13 years and loved them very much, but they changed insurance at work, so I had to change to Aetna. :(

I also have Aetna. Mine should be submitted next week. Scary because I also had a 3 lb gain at one of my appointments. This is making me nervous.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you. All the paperwork I hav read from Aetna says no net gain. This loop hole sure is sneaky of them.

Any word on your MichelleW1?

I saw my surgeon today and should be sent for approval today or tomorrow. Surgery is set for Nov 13th. I feel like this is my last big hoop to jump through. So nervous.

I am still waiting for insurance. They did tell me that November 11 would be my expected surgery day if they approve. That means that I will have to hear something soon because I will have to start my liquid diet on the 27th. I am nervous too. Good luck and keep me updated. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. :)

Hey! Was it a "net gain" or just a 3 pound gain? I'm going to send you a link, that Aetna cannot deny you for a gain because they are not doctors!!

Let me find the link and I'll post it.

Fingers are crossed. I also ha a net gain with Aetna and had Walter lindstrom fight my appeal for me. This is a blog from his website....standby!

Thank you so much for sharing that link! It is reassuring. I had a net loss of 15 lbs. Two of my weigh in during the 90 day program I had gains. One of 1 lb. and one with 3 lb. It seems ridiculous to deny due to that but obviously it happens. There could be so many logical reasons for it. Water retention due to a menstrual cycle to name one.

I see that some of you have your surgery scheduled before your Insurance is approved. How does the Dr. Know you will get approval. My Dr. Won't schedule my surgery till I get approved. My journey started back in August and it was fairly simply compared to most I have read. I am waiting on approval right now. Just wondering!

My surgeon just said we would move forward as though I was approved. I guess they'll just cancel or postpone if need be.

Mine was the same as yours, no date until approval. My date is jan 5th 2015 and I started all of this jan 7th 2014! It's been a long time to get stuff done and the denials were killer. But I made it thru.

I'm confused myself to get a date before surgery is approved.

But! Hopefully it all works out!

I had to wait until jan for my work.

Holidays aren't the greatest time to be out for 4 weeks.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
