Need Lunch Ideas. One more can of tuna or chicken and I am gonna puke!

Recommended Posts

I have eaten tuna salad or chicken salad every day for the last 4 months and if I have to eat it one more day I am going to puke. I am almost 6 months out and find myself snacking on crackers because I can't stand the Protein anymore. This has slowed my weight loss down (only lost 10 pounds in the last 3 1/2 months). I don't want to fall into the trap I did before and start going out for lunch everyday. Any suggestions would be welcomed.

On Sundays I prepare lunch for work for the entire week. I buy 2 packages of the Perdue Southwest Short Cuts and 2 containers of precut onions/peppers. I cook it all up in light Olive Oil and its delicious. It's like the inside of a Quesadilla without the tortilla. I add some Mexican cheese to each serving and it so so good!!!

Chili is a good lunch. One cup of chili fills me for hours. Also you could make ahead some turkey meatballs and heat them up with marinara. They even sell them at Ralph's premade, but from scratch tastes better. Buy a rotisserie chicken and use it for salads and you could also chop up the chicken for chicken salad instead of canned.

I eat high Protein versions of chili and Soups. I have included some of the recipes in the following article. I am 16 months post-op from RNY and currently I am getting about 60 grams of Protein from my meals alone.

Make a roast on Sunday cut it up for lunches through the week

Rotisserie chicken from boston market. Pull the leftovers, get a low carb tortilla. A couple drops of BBQ Sauce and you have a great lunch.

Pork chops from loin grilled.

Make a chicken shishkabob.

Cottage cheese, throw a couple pieces of fruit in it, some goji berries and a little chia seed.

Chile, cottage cheese and fruit, lunch meat and cheese without the bread, Smart ones Entrees, Black bean burgers, Cook a roast and freeze it in portion packs, Fruit and greek yogurt, Saurkraut and Kielbasa, Low fat burritos, Curlys pulled pork or beef, egg salad in half a pita bread, Boca burgers, bean Soup, salad with some grilled chicken, the possibilites are endless you have to get creative. If I ate that every day for lunch I would hate it too. There is so many things out there that you can eat other then tuna and chicken salad.

On Sundays, I cook 3 oz portions of salmon or some other kind of fish to eat with salad or another green vegetable as lunch for the week. At times I may alternate my dressings or salad types to change it up.

I may sometimes may eat a very small portion of what's left from dinner. And then eat my fish for dinner.

Or I may eat a few crackers with cheese or Peanut Butter for lunch.< /p>

I drink Water & munch on nuts throughout the day that satisfies me between meals.

eggs work a lot of ways. I happen to like tofu in Soups. Lots of Protein and little calories. Lately quinoa has been on my list. One of the few grains with protein. Good luck and keep us posted!

Morning star black bean burgers are pretty good. Refried Beans with salsa and maybe a bit of cheese. eggs in so many different ways. Grilled chicken, tuna, turkey with a small amount of veggie. Beef Jerky as a lunch meal isnt bad.

The crackers? Thats a demon your going to have to work through. But there are alot of foods out there to replace the canned chicken and tuna.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
