I'm 16 days post op and for almost a week now I've been incredibly nauseous and can't seem to keep anything (including water) down. Tuesday was my 2week post op and ended up at the hospital for over 8 hours getting IV fluids pumped in me due to dehydration. I'm on two different nausea meds, but apparently they're not working.

I'm extremely weak, tired, and emotional. I beginning to regret this surgery. I mean, the weight is coming off, but being so sick is not improving my quality of life. And I'm half convinced the reason the weight is coming off is because I can't get in any nutrition - at all.

Anyone other have a similar experience that could give me hope?

I do. Absolutely. I am 7 weeks out and it has only been very recently that I am feeling better. I have had extreme nausea the whole time and was hospitalized 2x since my surgery.

I have been having the same issues, and thing were getting stuck and feeling tight. I kept asking about having an endoscopy and if I had a stricture. It was always no and no.

I had an endoscopy last Monday and had a stricture. They opened it up and I will have to have it done 1-2 more times (probably.)

After I recovered from the endoscopy I started feeling better overall. I am beginning to feel like it is tight again, so I am not letting them make me wait til I am half dead to do anything about it.

Make sure to be in touch with your dietitian. Mine has worked diligently with me to help me in the path of getting well.

Good luck. I regretted it to but am coming around.

Have you considered a possible lactose intolerance? I developed it post op and felt like crap until I figured it out. It has since lessened and is almost gone. Could be a possibility as it is not uncommon after surgery.

What are you trying to eat? And what nausea/acid Med are you taking?

low blood sugar can make you feel like this. take a few tablespoons of honey and see if this makes you feel better. i went through this as i had excessive swelling due to scar tissue removal and the difficulty keeping anything down lead to low blood sugar and lots of nausea. once i figured out how to get my blood sugar levels up to normal, i was able to get hydrated and started feeling much much better.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
