Extremely discouraged

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on January 13th, prior to the surgery I had lost 13 pounds on my own, after the surgery I lost an additional 35 for a total of 48 pounds. that was over 3 months ago, I have no lost a single point since. I know I have heard of stalls but three months? I am so discouraged right now and having such a hard time dealing with it all. I met with my dr in june when it first started and he said we would talk about it at my next visit which is not until September 9th but by then it will be over 3 1/2 months and no weight loss. I have tried more food, less food, Protein shakes...then no Protein Shakes. I go to the gym 4 - 5 times a week I just don't know what to do

Are you keeping a food journal? Everything you eat and when and how many grams of Protein? Are you drinking all your Water?

I have had many stalls and they are devastating so I understand what you are going through. The things that my nut and others on here have told me are:

-- keep a daily food journal (don't know why but it actually works)

-- drink your Water

-- eat Protein every couple of hours (or drink protein). I tend to have a yogurt for Breakfast, a hard boiled egg for a snack around 10, chicken with some raw veggies for lunch, cottage cheese for mid day snack (when I can remember), and then lean protein for dinner with some veggies if I can get them in. I can't always follow this perfectly but that is what I"m trying to do.

-- make sure you are getting around 60-80 or so grams of protein.

-- count grams of protein, not calries

-- exercise (which is sounds like you are)

-- stay off the scale! (yeah, I know. tough one)

Are your clothes fitting better? That's a better measurement of how you are doing.

Best of luck and check back in with us after a bit.

I was pretty good about keeping a journal until mid july, the summer got the better of me and I stopped but I just started again this week. I do try and get all my Protein in each day, Water I am decent at I could be better but I get at least 30 - 40 oz in a day. I have not gained any weight this summer, but I also have not lost. I don't feel like there has been any change in my clothes either and I am just so discouraged now

@@joy3551 hang in there, I will be a month post op tomorrow and I have literally been at a stall for 3 weeks, so I totally understand your frustration, but I decided to put the scale away and continue to follow your nut and doctors advice. Continue to believe in yourself and you will see results....

Your Fluid intake is probably only 1/2 what it should be. You should be getting at least 64 ounces, more like 80+. Are you using a tracking program that lets you know how much your burning compared to your calorie intake. If you use fitnesspal.com it can help you to see what works for you and what doesn't. I found that I do better with a more rounded diet leaning heavily on Proteins. When I reintroduced veggies (salads), I noticed that my stalls broke. You need to always be totally honest with yourself, without that your "tool" won't work.

I was using my fitness pal pretty faithfully until about six weeks ago, like I said I was just busy this summer and let it go, I picked it up again this week. As for vegetables, I just have a hard time getting everything in, there is only so much you can eat and they are always telling you Protein first

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
