I was very unprepared for this pain. I was under the impression it wouldn't be as bad as the c-section I had but that's sooo untrue. At 12 days out is your pain better?

Snow kitten, I was also very unprepared for the pain. I just want to feel better and I did sooooo much research on this surgery so I could make an informed decision. I wish I would have waited a bit longer before I made a decision. I had lost 60 pounds prior to my surgery and was doing well, however my problem was I could never keep it off. I wish I had more will power. I don't know how everyone does it. Maybe when the pain is gone I will feel much differently.

You'll feel better at 2 weeks, even better at 3 weeks and normal by at 1 month. Hang in there! I am almost 10 weeks out and it gets easier every week.

Gas pain an hernia repair was my worse...my tummy no problem. .the hernia repair according to my internists will take months to heal but the esophagus spasms will subside in about a wk. Take ur script painkillers! Ur body needs the rest an u can't get sufficient healing an rest in pain. Keep hydrated as much as possible. My esophagus spasms hurt like heck. By the 6th or so day it was eased a lot. Hang in there new sleevers it gets soo much better! Best decision I ever done for myself besides the breast reduction 15 yrs ago!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
