Hello and Happy Spring!

Recommended Posts

:) This is my first posting. I had my initial surgery in Sept. of 05. It went very well and I adjusted very well to the change in eating etc. My doctor is Dr. Barritt Haig of Springfield, MA. The most down to earth, good humored medical professional I have ever met. I initially weighed, at my heaviest, 247lbs. I currently weigh 168. I ran into some difficulty in Feb. of 07 when the band slipped and I ended up in the hospital to have it replaced. So far everything is back to normal and I'm just working at loosing those last 8lbs. to reach my goal. It's been an awesome tool for me. I give kudos to anyone who can do it (lose weight) without the procedures, etc. but I'm thankful that it's available to those of us who need it. I can now enjoy exercising and doing the physical activities that I had given up because of my obesity. I'm back to playing softball on a coed team this spring. As a 48year old woman who's had four children, I would say that's pretty darn good! Blessings to all.:clap2:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
