How far out did you start eating...

Recommended Posts

Grapes

Pickes/cucumbers

Shrimp

Almonds/pumpkin seeds/nuts

Protein Bars

Low carb wheat tortillas (think tortilla pizza)

Turkey bacon

Hamburger meat/ground beef

Broccoli

Carrots

I need to start mixing it up, but I'm a big chicken to try new things. I'm craving fruits & veggies, but I also don't want to waste my sleeve space on a lot of things that do not have Protein. I'm so confused.

Craving nuts too...but again...CHICKEN.

Hamburger, carrots and broccoli ( well cooked) in soft food stage...4 weeks.

Pickles, bacon, Protein bars when I started regular food.....6 weeks out. (Although some Protein Bars that are really gooey could probably be started sooner. I just didn't like any of them)

Cucumbers and other Raw veggies, Nuts, seeds, almonds after 3 months. Nuts and seeds are staple Snacks for me now.

Grapes and tortillas...didn't add carby stuff until was within 10 pounds of goal...probably 5 months.

Grapes - I tried a few at about four months out, still don't eat regularly because of high sugar and carbs
Pickes/cucumbers - pickle relish at the soft food stage which was 8 weeks out for me. Pickles and cucumbers had to wait until I was off soft foods, which was 6 months after surgery.
Shrimp - I had pureed shrimp on the pureed phase (weeks 4-8 after surgery) and regular sauteed shrimp starting in soft foods (8 weeks after surgery)
Almonds/pumpkin seeds/nuts - not until I was off soft foods, 6 months after surgery
Protein bars - not cleared to eat them until a year after surgery due to high carb content
Low carb wheat tortillas (think tortilla pizza) - not cleared to eat any grains until a year after surgery
Turkey bacon - soft food stage, 8 weeks out
Hamburger meat/ground beef - I had pureed ground been on the pureed phase, regular ground beef during soft foods, 8 weeks out.
Broccoli - soft food phase, 8 weeks after surgery, but it had to be cooked to mush - so soft I could cut it with a fork. I don't like mushy broccoli so I didn't eat it often.
Carrots - I could have had them during soft foods if I had been willing to cook them to mush. I hate mushy carrots so didn't bother.

I started eating regular foods about 4.5 weeks out. I'm just shy of 8 weeks post-op now and eat everything on your list and have been. I still don't eat many bread-y carbs like tortillas and such but can tolerate them now. They do sit heavy in my stomach though if I have more than a bite or two.

I will be 9 wks out and also been on all these foods since going onto 'regular' diet at 6 wks post. i too choose to limit my 'bread-y' things but eat a whole wheat tortilla pizza probably once a week with ham and veg, i can only eat half of the fajita sized tortilla in total.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
