Okay so I'm 4 weeks post op and the last couple days I've been so hungry!!! I eat every like 2.5 hours, getting in about 700 calories a day! I don't know why ? Any suggestions?

Are you on a PPI? Often stomach acid will mimic hunger. If you are on a PPI, you might consult with your doctor about a different PPI or a bigger dose.

If it isn't stomach acid, it might be head hunger. Are you wanting to eat a specific thing (cookies? pizza? BBQ sandwich?) or would you eat just about anything in order to stamp the hunger out, including foods you don't particularly like? If you would happily drink a particularly nasty Protein Shake or eat a piece of dry, unseasoned chicken breast, that's probably not head hunger. Head hunger is something you have to learn to deal with -- I recommend the book, the Beck Diet Solution. It really helps with things like that! It can also help you deal with true stomach hunger in ways other than eating. Good luck!

I am on something for Acid! Can't think of the name though! I don't get the hunger pains but my stomach just always feels empty about an hour after I eat! I'm not wanting Anything specific, just something to fill it up! I went to my doc yesterday and he said that he thought it would be normal to feel hunger when only eating so little, but I don't think he has much knowledge on bariatric surgery and the after affects! It's just frustrating cause I was so excited pre sleeve to not feel hunger and now here I am :(

Are u getting enough Protein? Am one week post op and feel hunger too. I thought that wouldn't happen either. But as previously mentioned, it could be acid.

I've been getting around 70 g the last couple days! That's what's confusing me! I upped my intake of protein And calories by eating more frequently and I'm feeling the hunger more and more!

My NUT plan is to eat 6 small meals a day, or every 2 hours. I do get hungry when it's 2.5 and I haven't eaten, I too get in the reccommended Protein totals per day. I don't thin there is anything wrong with they way you seem to be eating

Thanks! I don't have a NUT as I had my sleeve done on Mexico! I will just keep doing what I'm doing hopefully this hunger subsides! And that my stall comes to an end! How many calories are you supposed to be taking in according to your nut?

What are you able to eat now? I'm almost 2 years out so I don't remember the stages, but if you're on liquids or soft foods it might be why you're not satisfied as long. Maybe plan 3 meals with Snacks in between at specific times to keep hunger at bay. I literally eat my meals and snacks at specific times every day and track it on myfitness pal or I'll be all over the place with calories.

I'm on soft foods! so my typical day is a Protein Shake at 7:30 ish, yogurt at 9:30, lunch at 12 where I'll have an egg or some chicken of some sort, or cottage cheese, 2:30 a cheese stick or yogurt, 430-5 is dinner, again some chicken or meet ball, then 7-8 I'll have another snack, I bumped my calories up to 700 this week! Somedays my schedule gets changed but that's a average day!

She said don't worry about the calories at this point ( 1m 5 weeks out) but the goal is individual I believe between 850-1000+

Jenny, that sound like about how much I'm eating, and I noticed yesterday that I got hungry for the first time I can really remember since surgery. I had gotten used to something like a cheese stick making me feel full for several hours, but yesterday I had my cheese stick and an hour later I was hungry again. Maybe it's a recovery phase?

Remember to drink Water - more if you need to. Often times when I feel hungry I drink water and then I'm not hungry anymore

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
