Hi Everyone!

My name is Lisa and I have started the process for the 2nd time on getting the sleeve. Last year I went through the process to get approved and a few weeks prior to surgery I backed out. I was scared and I didn't feel like I was ready for such a drastic change in my life. Since then I have been working with a therapist on this. I am 29, married for 5 years and have no kids. I am hopping that making this decision will better my health and allow us to have a family in the future.

My husband is very supportive and we have a great relationship but I still worry that it may hurt our relationship. We discussed this and he told me that we have been through some tough things over the last few years and if we can get through those then we can get through this.

Any advice on going through this process?

Thanks!

Hey!

You shouldn't be worried about taking this step. I feel like this decision will actually make your relationship much better especially that your husband is supportive. It really isnt that hard. All you have to do is follow instructions and know what to eat to stay healthy. I really think you should do it, dont wait any longer. And i promise you wont regret it at all!

Good luck with everything you do!

I am not going to lie....I was worried about this as well, but then after talking with my husband who pretty much said the same thing I knew this was the best choice. I feel that as I progress on this journey I am going to only feel better about myself and that will show in our relationship in good ways. Several good ways (def. not trying to be racy....but, how could it not help in that area). I am very happy that I did this. I am only a week and two days out and I just get better with things everyday. It is new and I don't necessarily care for change, but it can only get better from here!

You will do amazing!! If your relationship is solid and strong, your relationship is going to be even better after doing this!

Congrats on your journey and Good luck!!!

I would look at it from this standpoint. It could actually be more harmful to your relationship and life if you do not have the surgery. You want children, you would have an insanely high risk pregnancy if you got pregnant now or even anywhere near 200lbs. You are the perfect age to do this, I am just a bit older than you and apart from me wanting to live life, my primary motivation to lose the weight are the children I haven't even attempted to have. I want to give my babies the best healthiest chance at life and to do that, I need to lose this weight. Being heavy can cause you to be infertile and most doctors want you to be a year or more (18) months postop before you get pregnant. Now is the perfect time for you. He's supportive and if he needs to lose some weight to, you going through the process will help him with that as well. Good luck girly.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
