7 days Post-Op and finally feeling good!

Recommended Posts

It is amazing that after 7 days I actually feel good. Last night was the first night that I have slept the entire night comfortably!

I am a notorious side sleeper and have been able to sleep on the opposite port side for a little bit but I woke this morning on the port side (with a pillow mind you) and the pain was so very minimal. My first day back to work was yesterday and I must admit I was miserable with sitting upright all day, walking the stairs continually and getting "the look" all day because my office can't keep to themselves and stay out of my business. I came home yesterday tired, cranky, nauseated and hurting from gas pains. My hubby did some karate chops up and down my back for about 20 minutes (I highly recommend this to help move that gas) and I think that contributed to my wondersleep. I just wanted all the new bandsters out there to know that it will get better and the pain will subside.

Hi thanks for your post. Today marks day five since surgery. I feel real good with slight pain at port sight. I have not had the bad gas that everyone talks about. I spent one night at the hospital and was told by a nurse who had Lap Band herself to get some Gas X and you will be fine. I follwoed that advice and started using it as soon as I go home. I report that to date I have not experienced the horrible gas build up that I have been reading about.

I also understand what you are saying about sitting up all day long. It does get very tiring to me as well. As far as nosy people....yeah know all about that and I can't stand it. If I want them to know anything, I mean anything about my personal life, I will tell them.

I have slept well almost every night with the only major complaint being I get tired of sleeping on my back. I too am a side sleeper and have not yet graduated to sleeping on my side as of yet.

My pain has been very managable. I still take at least half a dose of pain meds at night. Through the day I am well thus far.

I read your bio and it said you have lost a nice amount of weight. Is that weight loss all post op, or does it include the weight lost during pre-op diet?

I have lost 10 pounds since surgery. Just wondering...please I am not being nosy. I just want to drop weight.

Have a good day and I wish you success in your journey!

Keith

Hi Keith,

I hadn't had the bad pains in my shoulder area like others until recently. It's odd how this gas moves around the body!

I'm glad you wrote because I looked at my bio because I was thinking have I lost that much weight? Anyways, I had a huge blunder. My start weight was off 10 lbs - and otherwise I would not have known. But so far what I have lost is due to the pre-op diet and I suppose the post-op now too.

I am having a hard time hitting my Protein and drinking enough fluids. I think I am bored silly with my choices and tired of liquids but what other choice is there. You aren't nosy - my coworkers are :D

I wish you much success too!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
