How often do you get fills?

Recommended Posts

I'm just wondering what the "norm" is. How often were you getting fills, especially before you hit your sweet spot? I just had one a month ago and need another one now. For some reaosn I'm feeling guilty and wondering if I'm getting fills too often. I haven't hit my sweet spot yet for perfect restriction. Right now I feel like I have hardly any since my unfill Easter weekend (I was way too tight and needed to have some taken out). This is going to be my fourth fill since getting my port fixed in January.

I think I'm really lucky with my fills. I get them whenever I need them at no extra cost as I paid for a package. I had my first fill at 6 weeks post op; the second a week later and the third (which was today) 4 weeks after the second. I can literally call my consultant's secretary and get an appointment with a day or so.

I had two in my 8 months to goal.

First one was 6 weeks after surgery .

Boy was I restricted.

When it took two pudding cups to fill me up I knew it was time to schedule a fill.

Second one was 5 months after surgery.

I do not know the numbers.

Be careful not to end up so filled that you can't eat more than a couple of shrimp, and a couple of Beans. More often than not, it is counter productive.

Restriction is where you can eat a small meal, and stay full for a couple of hours after. Not eating so little that you are starving yourself.

Small healthy meals are are what you should be looking at when you ask yourself if you have restriction. Are you staying full for at least a couple of hours after eating some Protein, carbs and veggies?

As opposed to feeling depressed because you look down at your plate and see less than an starving child in a third world country would eat?

Full is often described here as a bursting at the seems type feeling, whereas it should really be described as a contented feeling. Full and overeating are often confused.

And how often should you have a fill? That is between you and your doctor. Often doctors will not do fills any sooner than 2 weeks apart. Why? It can take 2 weeks for any swelling to go down that the fill may have caused. And it also gives you a chance to get used to the new fill amount, also to see if you have lost any weight.

Because if you are losing weight, while eating small healthful meals, and exercising, you do not need a fill.

Thanks for the replies!

I'm not feeling full that long after meals. Today for lunch I had some grilled chicken strips with l/f cheese and a small salad. Felt hungry again less than an hour later. I also haven't lost any weight in 2 weeks. So I know I need a fill, but I was wondering how often people get a fill before finding their sweet spot. I actually had way more restriction after the fill I got in late Feb. Then I went in just before Easter for another one but got so tight I couldn't keep anything down. He took some out and I'm thinking it was too much. I want to get back to the restriction I had just after that Feb fill! Hopefully this one will be just right. :)

The trouble with banding is, everything is so darn individual. What works for me in terms of a fill, may not work for you, or anyone else.

Some people find their sweet spot within a fill or two. Some ten, and some never.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
