Band is Coming Out

Recommended Posts

I've been thinking for some time about getting my band out and after talking with a shrink for several months have decided to do it. My date is the weekend of May 18 and I just wanted to thank all my band buddies here for the Major Support over the last several years.

I've taken all the advice and suggestions and appreciate you all here very much. This is the right decision for me as having the band is actually making me more crazy around food and weight loss, etc. then before I had the band. To fail at what i considered my last resort is just too much!!

I wish you all continued success on this crazy journey.

Hi Mary...

I know the struggles you have had. I'm so sorry the band wasn't right for you. You have to do what is right for you and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Good luck to you!

I'm sorry the band wasn't the right tool for you, Mary, but I'm glad you're doing what's right for you. You're not failing at your last resort -- you are just still on the journey of seeking optimal health (as are we all).

Best of luck to you for all that the future holds.

Aww - thanks everyone. Ironically, My recent breakup and now a week of painful jaw problems has started me losing weight again. It hurts to even open my mouth so even drinking seems like too much work. I'm on treatment for a week and laughing to myself that I will have to lose weight now!

I am so sorry that the band hasn't worked for you. I have read about your story since I've been with LBT. We have the same surgeon too. I have appreciated you sharing your struggles with us as we can all learn from other's experiences. I hope you won't be a stranger!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
