beginning week 2, full liquids, how do I get the needed protein

Recommended Posts

Just found this forum, first post. Banded a week ago, moving from Clear liquids to full liquid diet. Dr. advised full liquid for two weeks and wants 80 grams of Protein a day. i tried the strained low fat cream of chicken Soup and added a scoop of GNC whey protein. What an awful mess, was like glue and just unpalatable. Needless to say my dogs loved it! Any suggestions on getting the protein with the small 1/4 cup size portions needed during this full liquid phase. Thanks for any advise

Have you tried the unflavored powder by Unjury? I add it to everything and as long as you don't heat it up too much you can't even taste it.

Try Isopure - it is best mixed with a little Crystal Lite. 40 grams Protein in 20 ounces. My favorite is Grape Frost. Are you able to have Protein shakes?

Thanks for the suggestion I have never heard of Isopure or unjury. I will see if I can find this tomorrow. I can have Protein Shakes which I do like but still will not getting enough protein. I'm excited to know that there is something out there that can be added without completely changing the taste of whatever I've added it to. A couple of hours ago I was wondering how I was going to get through the next two weeks but am more encouraged now.

New Whey liquid Protein shots are 42 grams of Protein in 3.8 OUNCES...just a thought. Maybe not the best tasting, but they certainly pack a lot of protein per ounce. I use them occasionally if I'm not hungry. 5 years post op.

Thanks for the help. Finally was able to speak with my doc and they told me to ignore the 1/4 cup information that was on their published diet. So now I can do the shakes, 2-3 premier shakes a day will get me the needed Protein. Best of all I can avoid that yuk that I was getting with the powder Protein.< /p>

Im using these after workouts too, not exactly the best tasting stuff but at such a small amount, i just gulp [edit: (half of)] it and imagine its medicine so that my brain isnt expecting anything pleasant lol and there its done!

Does anyone know if these "new whey liquid protein" shots are suitable for vegetarians? I havent found any details on their website about that but dont want to suggest it to vegetarian friends before Im sure. Thanks :-)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
