Familiar words some of us can relate to- from Robin Williams RIP :(

Recommended Posts

"During an interview with Good Morning America, Williams explained that falling back into alcohol abuse was "very gradual."

"It's the same voice thought that… you're standing at a precipice and you look down, there's a voice and it's a little quiet voice that goes, 'Jump,'" Williams told Diane Sawyer. "The same voice that goes, 'Just one.' … And the idea of just one for someone who has no tolerance for it, that's not the possibility."

When asked why he relapsed, Robin answered: "It's [addiction] — not caused by anything, it's just there… It waits. It lays in wait for the time when you think, 'It's fine now, I'm OK.' Then, the next thing you know, it's not OK."

Replace "alcohol" with "food". Addiction of any kind is so hard. We just have to go day by day and learn new habits and try not to think of the old. :)

I'm finding that for me my food addiction is greatly increasing the struggle to "be good" and stay on diet, I have another week to go on the puréed diet and the food cravings are so intense. I'm mourning the foods I can't eat. I knew I had a problem but I never thought it was this bad.

I'm trying to replace food cravings with Water or with a different activity, it'll be easier to do that when I can exercise more. I'm still dealing with a lot of intense pain.

You know I was talking to my fiance about this last night. I have never thought I had a food addiction, and he agreed with that.

He says he has it, and that is his problem. He is losing weight, though, and that is good. He got under 300 yesterday and I know that was very exciting for him.

I hear people talking about transfer addictions and I don't think that really concerns me.

As for Robin Williams, such a sad thing that he felt that was all he could do. Can you imagine how many people there are out there smiling on the outside and just dying on the inside? I can imagine there could be some like that here.

May he RIP.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
