well i was banded june of last yr got my first fill around august of last yr .

YR TO DATE lost i guess around 37 pnds, History: was getting fills at first was fairly tight and was had some taken out then, was getting hungery again and went in to get one of my last fills because i had reached restriction this was MONTHS AND MONTHS AGO.well my nurse was out at that time and the person that was there looked at my pouch and said it was too wide(this was months ago ) anywho at that time i had gone on liquids this was at christmas time since then i have had my fills put back in and i have like 4.3 CCS in a 4 CC band, anywho i havent gotten a fill for about two months due to..when i felt i had reached restriction before I pbing on certain things like steak etc and it could have just been certian foods and i never learned to chew slow enough (this is my thoughts of why i was pbing) at this point now i dont have that tight restriction but i think i eat less then if i didnt have a band and i PB sometimes during my period on solids (rarely)(since im tighter then for some reason)

anyhow i have been trying to be against getting another fill due to the fear of being TOO TIGHT and the fact that i have been excersising two months. And i had called my surgeons nurse about this hole situation.

she said when a person gets lapband is working out and eating fairly less then before surgery that if they arent loosing wieght that the doctor usually puts them on metabolic medicines (aka i guess wieght loss meds)

but i just feel like I SHOULDNT have to do that if i got the surgery!

i mean i have such frustrated feelings lately,i work out 4 times per week afterwards i even have PORT pain,i am eating normal, not bad in my opinion at all.

and im a natural kinda girl ,i would rather take NATURAL vitamens for metoblism then freakin pills ,and i would rather be able to eat veggies and a apple then be to tight and PB at random times of the day.

ANYWAYS just wondering if anyone else has ever struggled like this.

Thanks

I understand what you are going through. I was banded a little over six months ago and have lost about 40 lbs and am at a plateau. I have only had one fill, so I know another will help, but my biggest problem is that I don't really follow the band rules like I should. I cheat with soft foods like mash potatoes, cheese, soggy cereal; some calorie drinks (like yummy coffees), and other things I know are not good for someone that wants to lose weight. I am going to go back to the rules, like eating one cup of food, tiny bites, lots of chewing, taking my time to eat, and no drinking with food. Keeping a journal and tracking your intake helps, and might surprise you and show you where some hidden calories are coming in. It worked before the band so I think I am going to try it again to help stop me from mindless eating, like m&ms. I agree with you that I should not need any other help losing weight since I have the band. I know that if I get back to basics I should start losing some weight. I hope that might work for you. If it is not your issue, at least know that we are here for you and wishing you the best.

:)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
