It's Friday, I had my surgery on Monday. I'm at home and thought I was doing pretty good. But, later in the day yesterday and earlier this morning, I've been having headaches and have been quite irritable. Is this dehydration or is it something else normal? I'm trying to drink as much Water as possible, but, it seems much tougher now that I can't just chug the water. Also mixing it in with G2 gatorade.

On a side note, I do remember feeling a bit similar on the two days before my surgery when I was on liquid diet. Any advice? Thanks.

Hydration is the most important thing to keep in mind. Low blood sugar could also be causing your issue. Try drinking a 1/4 cup of fruit juice. If it s low blood sugar you will get almost imediate results.

What was your pre op diet? Could be carb withdrawal. My pre op was 2 shakes and a "lean and green" meal - which included lots of veggies and salads (carbs). My sleeve was done on Tuesday and I had a headache after surgery and the next day. I guessed that since on pre op I was still eating carbs and then went to no carbs with my one Protein shake and one Protein Soup, it was because of that. I drank a fruit smoothie and it went away. Good luck!

I had my surgery on Tuesday and had awful headaches the night of surgery and most of the next day. I was told it was from the anesthesia. I haven't had any since so not sure. I am not having any issues taking in enough Water. Have decided I am going to start adding a few ounces here and there of coconut Water for the extra boost in electrolytes. Good luck.

See if your urine is almost clear by the end of the day. If you are not urinating and or it is dark yellow, that could be dehydration. My doctor even looked at my tongue during my follow up and he said I was needing more liquids.

I'm 8 weeks out and I still have to monitor my hydration. I've terrified of needing iv fluids so I take it very seriously and keep drinking all day long.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
