First Fill

Recommended Posts

Well today I just had my first fill. They put 1.6 cc's of Fluid in me. I am not sure if that is a big or small amount. I did not feel any tightness at all, so I guess thats good. I was just wondering, after a fill, how often to you have to wait til you can eat something? I am starved, and wanting to eat some Soup, but I was not sure if that would be ok, so soon after my fill?

Courtney I think most people go ahead and eat after they get a fill. I havent had my first one yet but most recommend fluids at least the first day...dont know if this helps it's just what I've read on the threads....

Courtney ..all doctors are different. Did your not give you any specific instructions? My Dr. has his patients do 3 days of liquids (full liquids: anything that will go through a straw) . I did eat right away after my 2nd fill becasue my doctor wanted me to eat to make sure before I left TJ that I was not filled too tight & once I was OK and not too tight he told me to now do 3 days of liquids. Maybe give your doctor a call and ask to be on the safe side..It cant hurt to call

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
