IF you cheated on your liquid diet what did you eat? How did your surgery go. Im on day 5 its tough as hell and haven't cheated and don't plan to but am curious how it went for others.

I was sleeved July 14 and can say the liquid faze was the hardest. The urge to chew can be overbearing. That being said, I admit to tasting a few things that required some chewing BUT I was sure to chew, chew, and chew some more. I am on soft foods now so it is getting better but I still miss chewing. Once you can get to the soft foods stage it'll get better because you can incorporate more flavors into your diet and I've found this to reduce the urge to chew.

So far I am down 20 post op, 20 pre total 40.

Between pre and postop I was on liquids for 34 days. For 16 of those (preop) I was hungry every day. So what? It was only temporary and a very small price to pay for a HUGE reward. And the fact I did it without cheating was very empowering....it just made me stronger and more confident. Keep your eye on the end goal and know that following all directions is the best thing you can do to have a safe surgery and smooth recovery.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
