port site questions

Recommended Posts

I was banded on 4/23 by Dr. Ortiz and have spoken to him once since. I have some concerns about pain in the port site. It looks a little red and slightly open with a little moistness in the incision. Dr. Ortiz said to use a heating pad on it which I've been doing since we spoke on Friday. But, I'm getting a stabbing pain in that area everytime I bend over or roll over in bed. Anyone else have this and did it go away soon after surgery? I actually feel worse today than I have since the surgery. Don't have a fever though.

Also, I have a weird rash on my abdomen, chest and arms. Ortiz said it's probably from the iodine they use before surgery. Anyone else experience this?

I'm a bit anxious so I'd love some feedback soon.

I had the same stabbing pains...that is just the port incision...I was so scared that something was wrong...the pain will go away after a few days...it does hurt to roll over in bed or if you set up the wrong way...it will get better...I had a rash on my stomach, it went away after a few days...just be careful not to lift anything ..and just be real careful turning over and moving about...just take it easy for the first week...it has only been 5 days since your surgery...you still have lots of swelling in your stomach...it will get better...just relax and try to take it easy....

I had some really bad pains at my port site for about 3 weeks after surgery. It does go away. I don't feel it now at all! It's because it's attached to muscle. My port is on my left side.

As long as it's inside not the actual would then i wouldn't worry too much. But if in doubt go back to your surgeon or Doctor!

Hope you feel better soon!

I had the same problem but my port incision popped open and drained for weeks, it finally has healed up. I find if I rollover at night some times it still pulls the muscle and hurts like the devil, but for the most part everything is good. So rest assured it will go away, some people take longer then others but it will get better. Bets of luck

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
