I have no idea on your question as I haven't had my sleeve yet but just wanted to say congratulations on your weight loss so far! That's amazing and very encouraging. Most people I've read have waited at least a month or so to begin excercising so good for you for feeling up to doing it sooner!

Hi jasmomo thank you my surgeon office told me to walk when I first had surgery. After my 1 week appointment I asked if I could exercise my old routine without putting pressure on my stomach he agreed to it but I think I might am pushing it.

If you feel like your pushing it then you should probably slow down, you have the rest of your life to exercise and it's really important right now to listen to your body! Also, if you are having any trouble getting your Water and Protein requirements that could be a reason for getting sore so just take it easy :)

I found when I started back exercising I really needed to up the calories and add in a few carbs (fruits, veggies). I was only taking in about 300-400 calories a day (3-4 weeks out) and it just wanted enough to give me the energy I needed for exercising, so any exercise felt bad. Once I upped the calories some, exercising is much easier.

Of course, you're still not very far out so you might try a combo of increasing your calories some and lightening up on exercise a little. My surgeon told me to do what I felt like doing -- sounds like you're doing a little more than your body likes.

@@Shawna39 - at 3 weeks out - you should only be doing light cardio. Walking/treadmill/elliptical. No weights. No ab work. Your tiny tummy is still trying to heal. The incisions need time to heal. I wasn't allowed to lift anything over 10llbs until 8 weeks out. Please contact out surgeon and ask what your restrictions are and what you should and should not be doing. You could be causing injury if you are doing too much too soon.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
