Hi everyone. My name is Annie. I see Dr. McCluney in Brockton @ Good Sam. I am in the process of getting approved for RNY. I have one more appointment with the nutritionist on August 12th before she can clear me and I meet with a psychiatrist on August 7th for clearance. I have Tufts but thankfully they no longer require you to go through the I Can Change program which is 6 months. I am super nervous about approval because my BMI is a 37 but I am on medication for high cholesterol and GERD, and I also have PCOS. So far I really like Dr. McCluney.

@@Tanika81, there are support groups in West Roxbury and surrounding areas though they are not just for WLS patients, they are overeaters anon meetings I believe. But, my NUT and doctor recommend them since they focus on what we need to know. I haven't attended one yet but I had written down several after doing a google search. I have some friends who have gone and have liked the groups so far. I attend a support group at the hospital where I had surgery but it is a food addict group as well.

Hi all. Amazon and MaureenS I have Dr Brahms too! I see him @ Danvers I have only seen him 1x but he seems nice and @ the classes in Burlington people liked him. 1 ? How much did he say you have to lose? He told me 50# I weigh 310. Is that a lot?

I hope both of you are doing well

Hi crynick

Dr Brams is great. His team is awesome, which is really where so much of your after care/support will come from too. Can't say enough good things about the entire group.

I didn't have as much to lose as some. He asked that I get to 200 by surgery (which was 24lbs) . I got below it by a couple of lbs. As a result I only had to do one week of the liquid pre-op diet (lucky me!).

I've reached my goal (yay!) and I see him the end of next month for my one year surgaversary.

I go to the monthly support groups in Burlington. Maybe I will see you there? :-)

Good deal! Thanks for the information. I still hadn't found a group and was truly considering starting one. Since my initial post, I have found a different job abd work in Jamaica Plain and am off much earlier. So I will look for those in the West Roxbury area

Thank you! [emoji2]

I had mine done at Norwood Hospital with Doctor Adam Glasgow. He's been great and his whole team is amazing. I go to the support groups there but I'm thinking about joing an OA somewhere around here. Anybody ever been to a meeting or know of one?

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
