Feeling down and out...HELP!

Recommended Posts

August 4th, will be 6 years with the band, things went super well I lost 150lbs!! I started out at 320lbs. I went from a 26-28 pants and 4-5x shirts down to 18 pants and L-XL shirt =)

then I sorta gave in?? My surgeons moved to different hospitals and out of state, I started drinking pop again, eating things I shouldn't. I'm so lost.. I need to find a new doctor, get that will power again.. I'm so upset with myself and I'm at 230-240 again =(

Until you can find a new doctor, start cutting back. Try a liquid diet (just like before getting banded) and then start back the soft/mushy/regular stages. Just like after surgery. You can do it.

Instead of completely changing your diet to liquids overnight, which is very hard to do, try cutting back 20% of your unhealthy foods and beverages for 2 weeks... On the 3rd week, cut back to 30% , 4th week.......... well, you get it. It's much easier to adapt new habits if you do a little at a time, but STICK WITH IT !!!! You can do this !!! Good luck !!

I agree with the above but until you find a new Dr, a very good Dr, and or a good bariatric nutritionist, this is going to be tough. You can do it, but visiting with a bariatric professional can give you the confidence you obviously need?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
