So, here's my latest update.

Surgery 7/21.

On 7/22, I was moved to Clear liquids. One sip, and I felt like I had to puke my guts.

On 7/23, I could finally tolerate liquids.

Dismissed (after a LONNNNNNG wait) from hospital today, 7/24.

Questions:

I feel sore - the kinda sore where you feel like you've been beaten. Badly! Lol And the bruises from all the blood draws and glucose checks don't help! How long did you feel sore? I walked around the house, took a shower, and feel like I am too tired to even keep my eyes open! Would you recommend rest, even if that means going longer without Water?

My doc had to use staples on my incisions. Lucky me, he said he couldn't use his normal steri-strips on me. :( Anyone have staples? What was it like having them removed? Painful? I'm freaked out about it.

I'm so glad to be home. Part of me can't believe it's real! I keep praying I did the right thing. The last 2 days were so doggone miserable, I was crying about the whole decision.

I gained 4.8 pounds since surgery date. Not a good feeling. Maybe I should put the scale away! Lol

Anyway, that's my update. I'm hopeful for better, positive posts once I feel human again.

Congratulations!!!

Rest, sip, walk, rest, sip, walk. I slept a lot the first two weeks. Just try to sip as much as you can during your waking hours.

I was sore for about 3 weeks. Before you know it you'll feel like yourself again. Just give yourself time to heal.

I've had staples for four c-sections. They do not hurt during removal at all. No worries. :)

Take care and welcome to the losers bench! It's awesome over here! (I'm 7 weeks post op and down 43 lbs after gaining 8lbs of hospital fluids)

Hi savymom03,

Yes, I am. My PA (phys assistant) said this is normal. She even said Water was more important than Protein shakes. And that eventually I will build up to the 64oz I need.

:)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
