tomorrow i go to the hospital to have most of my pre-op testing done, i was able to schedule a lot of it for the same day. in fact, after tomorrow, the only things left are my endoscopy and colonoscopy, which will be later this month. i can't wait for tomorrow to be over. the time before surgery is going by quickly because i am always looking towards the next little milestone, the next appointment.

I am near the end of my pre-op feeling excited. I debated over three years to decide to do this surgery. However, I am a bit nervous as well. I

Have one more SWL appointment and have not lost all the weight that I'm suppose to loose. Are their any experiences with this? Will my insurance deny me? I'm with Aetna.

I am startign out a little later that you guys. Just went for my consultation with the surgeon yesterday. The only pre-op test I need is the stress test. Of course, I have to meet with the dietician and do the psych eval and one class at the bariatric center. They set up the test and eval for me, I just have to show up :) I have only done one of my 6 mos visits with me PCP for weigh ins and my insurance requires 6 mos. So, I should be finished are ready to have the paperwork submitted to the insurance in January or February. I have a cruise booked for mid-April so I am going to have the surgery in May sometime (if everything goes as planned). So, I have a good bit of time to wait...but, excited to get it all started.

Sorry I haven't been on here in a few days! @@silvasnj4 !!! Yes, the process seems almost exaggerated in my area. I go to my PCP this Wednesday and the very first Bariatic Team meeting on the 26th. I'll be able to update you more when I know all the details.

Congratulations and welcome to the club! I just finished all my requirements (went pretty quickly) and am now waiting. Knzt, I start my pre-op diet on the 27th, too. My surgery date is 9/10. Wish it was tomorrow! :)

Solvasnj4, my psych consult was nothing difficult. She asked me questions like when have I lost weight in the past, how much and for how long, what kind of risks am I aware of regarding this surgery, what obstacles do I anticipate and how will I handle them... Things like that. I told her that in my case I used to be fit and active but things got hard when my parents' health declined and I became their caregiver plus working full time. My self care hit rock bottom and my weight climbed. Now I have no mental or physical energy to combat the weight and I need a kick start. I am in treatment for depression and plan to start exercising once I have some weight off and it's not so painful. She said I am informed and motivated and an "excellent candidate" so she cleared me. Just relax and be honest! But read up on what you are facing so he/she knows you are informed and prepared... I hope this helps you!

Too bad about hubby. But you don't need his approval. And he will change his tune when you are a tinier version of you! Keep your eye on the prize and God bless!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
