Hi All

I am really having a hard time finding what to eat for lunch. I take it with me everyday to work. I do have access to a microwave, so I can warm things.

My problem is finding the "right foods" to eat. I'm trying desperately to get in all the Protein, fiber, etc. in a day.

At the same time, I trying to figure out what I need to eat so I start loosing again.

I will take any and all suggestions.

My lunch is typically 1/4 to 1/2 cup of tuna salad on wasa bread (crispbread cracker type thing, very crunchy) and maybe a piece of string cheese. If I'm still hungry, I'll break a piece of wasa bread in half (they're 4.5 inches by 2.5 inches) and have a little more tuna on that. That doesn't happen too often, though.

How far out from surgery are you? This would be a "solids" meal, not a "mushies" meal.... Tuna is considered a solid by my doc.

I had surgery 1/31/07 and have had 2 fills. Thanks for the suggestions. I have bought some Lean Cuizine and health choice dinners; I should remember they are there and bring them for lunch. I've been eating deli meat, cheese, and pineapple cups. Wanted something different so I don't get burn't out.

One day I had the meat and cheese out of a lunchable! I forgot my lunch and that was all they had that seemed would work!

Again,

Thanks for the suggestions - I'll take any and all.

I've had lunchables before. They're just so darned handy!

My lunches (when I remember to eat  ) might be tuna salad - I'll either make it the night before, or buy the 4oz puches and add mayo at work... plain or I too eat them on Wasa (sourdough or multigrain are my favs).

We have a Green Acres near my work so sometimes I will make a salad from the salad bar that consists of grilled chicken breast, tofu, feta, bleu cheese, chick peas, sesame crackers, cottage cheese, and about a quarter of a scoop of balsamic vinagraitte. Or I will get a Soup and some of their tofu egg salad... mmm.

In case I forget and can't get out, I always keep tuna cups and a few cans of FF refried Beans in my desk, and usually a packet of turkey pepperoni in the fridge. That way I always have something.

If you cook, just bring leftovers from whatever your dinner was.

If you have a fridge, you can bring a whole week's worth of lunch and leave it in there. Sometimes on Monday I'll bring in a tub of cottage cheese, some sliced meats (I've found that "Boar's Head" brand deli meats are very close in nutritional value to homecooked meats), some Wasa, etc. -- and I'm good to go for the week.

All great suggestions, some days I am happy with an Atkin's shake or bar, and many days, I LOVE those Knorr Soups in a carton. My favorite is the Autumn Vegetable, directions, open, pour, nuke........One cup makes me feel warm and fuzzy.

I really like making a salad with sunflower seeds & grilled fajita chicken breast from Tyson. I eat about 3/4 to 1 cup of this a day and keep my dressing on the side. I dip my fork in the dressing then scoop up a bite of salad and I save tons of calories this way vs. putting the dressing on the salad.

I also buy these mini salmon cups, and eat them with 3 or 4 whole wheat crackers, very yummy too.

I too often do tuna, but I also like canned chicken mixed with a little mayo and either ff italian or some horseradish sauce to give it some zest. I like to eat these combos on melba toast, super crunchy, low in calories and fat. I also like some of the protien bars out there. My favorites are the Atkins bars, they seem to have the highest protien and fewest carbs of the ones readily available in the supermarket. If you have a freezer the south beach diet meals are great! You can get the ones without rice or Pasta if those foods are tempermental for you. Out of all the frozen meals they are my favorites. I don't care for the lean cuisine, weight watchers or healthy choice ones nearly as well.

The greatest lunches I have had are the South Beach Diet frozen meals. Not only are they loaded with Protein, but they also taste pretty darn good.

I also do the tuna cups, and fresh button mushrooms with lite ranch dressing.

Very filling and easy to eat.

My favorite thing to eat for lunch are Healthy Choice Meals. I also like the Dinty Moore dinners there not frozen and usually have chicken with potatoes,or beef stew, and some others. Those only take a bout a 90 sec to warm up. Just be careful the chicken can be a little dry so take very small bites.:)

How about deviled eggs, or eggs stuffed with tuna salad? Leftover meatballs with the gravy and a little cheese on top.I tried the smoked tuna (starkist brand I think) pouch with a little lemon pepper, spritz of evoo and a couple slices tomatoes and provolone cheese along with 3 pita chips awsome. Quite a bit of tuna enough for me to eat at 2- 3 times.

Thanks all - great suggestions, I will try them all. There are days that I just run out of ideas!!!

Now I just have to recover from my slip this weekend! It was my grand daughter's 2nd birthday Saturday, so I was bad!!! I ate food I shouldn't have like chips, cake and ice cream! By the time we got home, it was too late to cook so I had a burrito from Taco Bell! Sunday we spent the day at the hospital with a sick niece, so my meal plan went out the window again. I recovered a little - I had a Wendy's hamburger(no bun), cottage cheese and a little chili! So now this week I'm going to be good and stick with my meal plan! I'm hoping that my fill tomorrow will help!

Take Care All!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
