By the end of week 2 or by week 3 u should be able to sleep on your side. Everyone heals differently so, it could take u longer.

Good question! 7 days out and I still struggle but I have found that laying on about 3 pillows helps me tilt a little on my sued, not completely but enough to be semi comfy! Surly better than laying on my back! Looking forward to be able to sleep however, whenever.

Great question. Day 5 for me and I really miss sleeping on my side. Tried tonight and it was a mistake.

I slept with a body pillow for awhile. I'm about 3 weeks out and I'm fine to sleep in any position except full-on stomach. Also, it was just in the last day or two that I started feeling like my energy is back.

Good luck!

i was forced to sleep on my back for about 5 days, and then could side sleep only on my left side. once my drain came out at 1 wk post op, i could sleep on either side. 3 wks out no issues at all.

my suggestion is to use lots of pillows on either side to prop you/support you. i'm a nurse so i had my hubs positioning the pillows like we do for patients post op to support their backs.

It was day 6 or 7 I was able to side-sleep. I was propped by a few pillows/rolled blankets for support. About 10 days to sleep unsupported. Oh, how I hated back-sleeping. Which is funny, because now that I'm further out, I don't mind sleeping on my back =P

I was able to sleep on my side my second night in the hospital. I just gingerly eased myself over and used my extra pillows to prop myself up. I sleep with a body pillow at home and had no issues once I got myself on my side. It was just the getting on the side that took some work. What was the hardest for me was banishing the cat from the room because she likes to jump on me and sit on my stomach. That was 12lbs of ow.

I was sleeved on June 30 and was able to comfortably sleep on my belly as of two nights ago, which made me very happy!

So glad I read these posts, I have had no end of discomfort sleeping. I hate sleeping on my back but it hurts to sleep on my side. Glad I am not the only one.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
