Willing to mentor

Recommended Posts

I am 4 weeks post-op and would love to have a mentor who has been successful. I am almost ready to start on solid foods but still have not had a lot of success meeting the goals with pureed foods and liquids. Pre=Gastric Bypass, I always consumed a lot of Water. At least 4-5 bottles per day. Now I am lucky if I can finish 1 1/2 per day. also, I should be up to 4oz of pureed foods at a sitting according to my nutritionist and I can not eat more than a half of that at a time or I feel sick and nausea. Any suggestions?

Awendya I wish I could help you more. I haven't had the gb yet. I went to doc today and said he is sending info to insurance to get approval for it. Said it usually takes up to a week and when he gets the approval the date of the beginning of a healthier happier life will be mad..

I talked to 2 people in waiting area th as t already had gb though. One was 2 weeks ago and said it's hard to get the needed Water down. The other was this last Thursday and said there's no problems. Both said it is hard to stay awake but 1 set alarm every hour to walk.

All I can say is do your best. You know whatever you are told to do is for the best of your health and safe recovery. Some days might be harder then others but you should always do your very best.

Don't feel bad at all. I'm 3 1/2 months or of surgery and I don't eat more drink near the food they say I should be able to. I can't believe you are only 4 weeks out and Already going to solid foods. We had to to do all liquid for almost 3 weeks then pureed foods for a month before we was to eat soft mushy foods that was easy to chew. Just this month I was told to start solid foods. I am doing about half the food they tell me to do a day and they say I'm doing ok. I keep up a good diary in my fitness pal app I have in my phone it allows me to show the doctors all the nutrients I am getting on s daily bases and weekly. They liked it. Just eat what you can and take your Vitamins. You will be good. If I can help you let me know. I'm in winder ga and love to talk to people who have had the surgery.

Dml I am trying to get as much info before I get the surgery as possible. Can you tell me about your post and pre op diet and how it made you feel difficulties if any and so on?

Sure the pre op diet was easy just try to stick to less than 1200 calories a day and eat allot of vegetables. They also gave us like a picture of the way our plate and the size it should be. So I really focused on that. 2 weeks before surgery asked us to go on Soup diets them a week before surgery carnations instant breakfeast drink again focus on 1200 calories. Post op they gave us a book they called the bariatric bible to follow for 4 months then life. It has a list of our Vitamins types of food and when to go from clear liquid to soup and creamy diet then to pureed foods them easily mashed food to now solid foods. It told us amount that we should be eating.

I am in track as far as what to eat can not eat but half of what they say I should be taking in my calories a day after almost 4 months is around 350 a day. But I was getting sick allot But they have went back In and took my gallbladder out and now I'm doing so much better

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
