What do you pay for a fill?

Recommended Posts

Up til recently I did not have to pay for fills at all. My surgeon just started charging 30 dollars for a fill and 60 for a fill with flouro. I'd like to know what you are paying, if anything.

Some people on my board are all bent out of shape about this, but I feel it is fair and others are paying more, especially in Canada.

Thanks in advance.

I'm with theTLBC and it's covered in the price of the operation!!!! For life

The Sugical Weight Loss Clinic also has free fills for life, but as I am not lilving in Toronto I cant really take advantage of that.

My fill Dr. in Calgary charges $99, no flouro. I know the other Dr. in Calgary charges 150.00

I can see both sides of the coin with having to pay, but $30 is pretty minor. Maybe a better way to go would have been x number free and then a nominal fee after that.

That is awesome! Good for you TLBC patients.

However, I must add that I paid 12,500. for my surgery. If I am right, TLBC patients pay 16,000. So I still feel as though my surgeon is justified in charging a mere 30.00 for a fill.

Thanks everyone.

Yes with that price it all kinda comes out better in the end.

I can understand your Dr. charging the $30. It may deter people who are taking advantge of the free fill policy.

Nothing. I paid my doc a once only $3,000 fee which was my only out of pocket expense and now I'm bulk billed for life which means I never have to pay anything out of pocket, they bill Medicare direct. The Australian health system is great.

I pay $75 a fill here in Edmonton. The doc is actually in St.Albert. I am happy with this price and I'm hoping he doesn't find out what other doc's are charging B)

Nice one Macdaddy lol, But yeah, i think going is the biggest expense because its 4 hours away...and as for Taking advantage of free fills and unfills....i find that unlikely. I wouldnt go for fun to get filled just because i felt like it. After care is not really splurging, it's necessary. I would think that deterring someone from it is wrong...i've seen in the forums some people who pay upwards of 300$ USD for fills....now THAT is ridiculous, and sometimes it's not even under Fluoro.

I think the big thing in the States is that many people have been banded in Mexico, and the US Dr.s want to take advanatge of the fact that they cant get aftercare. I see some of the prices paid by people in the US and I cant believe it. It must be a realy deterant for some people to get filled and take full advantage of the band.

I dont mind paying the $99, I feel that I am getting good value with the body analysis that I get with it and the potential to lose more weight.

98 cents a litre and I am pissed about it! $110 to fill the truck and that was self serve

Good news is that with all the weight you are losing you will be able to get a smaller vehicle. Your gas mileage should improve as you lose.

Hell, I have even driven the Smart car at work without having to call the jaws of life to get me out.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
