Help.... It's so typical my entire extended family are staying with us and they eat like mad and are such foodies! Also none of them apart from my parents know I'm having the surgery so it's been so hard! Tonight they had a massive sit down BBQ and I ended up having a bowl of salad and tuna and red wine vinegar as I couldn't bare the thought of explaining my situation as they wouldn't even understand me not being able to drop my diet for one evening as I never see then... I now feel horrendous and am so scared I have ruined it?! I'm only 5 days in of two weeks but is salad awful?! I hoped not as it's mostly Water and Tuna is Protein? ! Any answers would be a massive help!!!!

No worries you have not ruined anything. If the salad went down well you are fine start to listen to your band and you'll get to know your limits. The tuna was a great choice for Protein.< /p>

Some people get to eat food on their pre-op diets! I wasn't one of them, but I've heard of people getting to drink the Protein Shakes plus one small meal a day consisting of just Protein and veggies (which you ate). So you haven't ruined anything, don't worry! Just stay on track with your doctor's requirements from now until your surgery and you will be good to go :)

I'll share with you I'm a stress eater and my husband had his surgery 2weeks before mine. I was on my all liquid required diet for 1 week with 2 more to go . The night of his surgery I stopped at Popeyes and ate. I felt soooo guilty and boy did I pay the price that night. I was soooooo sick in the middle of the night.

My doc insisted I eat salads for weeks preOp.

I came to appreciate the non calorie dressing 'balsamic vinegar'.

Turned out the stuff was fermented like fine wine, and actually was wonderful for a variety of reasons.

Plus it made me liver non-fatty enough enough he was willing to poke around without so much concern.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
