I'm starting day 4 of liquids today. Yesterday was tough but I really don't have an appetite today yet. Surgery on August 1!

New here... been lurking for a while... I am scheduled for Aug 7th or 8th.. at Blossom Bariatrics in Las Vegas... Will be flying in the week before, I have family in Vegas and my brother had the same surgery in March with Dr. Umbaugh.

I had been considering some sort of bariatric procedure for years, but never had the courage to do it until my brother went ahead. So hope to see some of you there.

Hello all sleeving in August let's encourage each other

I haven't gotten my date yet, but it might be as early as Aug 28. I still need to meet with surgeon, Nutritionist, Behavior Counselor, get possible Cardio clearance, then the countdown begins. :-)

I'm August 6th.

Curious if anyone else has a pre-op balloon requirement? In addition to the pre-op liquid diet, I'm supposed to blow up 30 balloons a day for two weeks. I understand the reasoning behind it but was surprised as I haven't seen it mentioned in the forums and I've been doing a ton of reading.

Interesting, what's the reasoning behind it? And no, I don't have it

Hello Everyone.... August 7th is my day. I am a band to sleeve revision. Got my band in 2007 and did really great until it slipped 3 years ago. Insurance is paying for the band removal and I am paying for the sleeve. I am so ready, I loved my band as a tool, and am looking forward to having the sleeve as a lasting tool. I start the liquid pre op diet in 3 days, ready.

Good Luck all

Laura

It's to strengthen your lungs. Google tells me that having surgery in the chest or abdomen increases your chances of having breathing difficulties or developing pneumonia and "deep breaths help keep your lungs clear of secretions that can lead to infections. Deep breathing also helps improve the function of your lungs so that they deliver as much oxygen to the rest of your body as possible, which speeds up the recovery process." I think balloons are just the poor-man's spirometer.

Although now I wonder if this is just a sucker test and when they find me in a house full of 420 balloons, I will have qualified.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
