Replacement for Dr. Aceves?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I was scheduled to have a surgery with Dr. Aceves in august. Because of tragic death, the surgery is done now by Dr. Beltran. Does anyone know him? any word of wisdom?

I am worried about using this unknown doctor, given he had never done any surgery on his own, without Dr. Aceves

Thanks in advance

Did the coordinator tell you he has not done any on his own without Dr. Aceves?

I was sleeved by Dr. Aceves 7/13. Although Beltran hasnt established a name of his own its only a matter of time I think. Its my understanding that Beltran was present during Aceves surgeries and worked under him as part of the bariatric team at Almater hospital. I got to meet him during my stay there. I would look at him as a Dr. Who had the privilege to be trained by a MASTER of the craft Dr. Aceves. I think Dr. Beltran will step into the big shoes left by Aceves and will keep Mexicali Bariatric functioning as it has. There are a lot of awsome people behind the scenes such as Dr. Campos, Yolanda and Carla who I really dont believe would stand behind just anyone if they didnt believe in them as a surgeon. That just my opinion right or wrong it is what it is.

Also I forgot to ask why do you say he has never performed a surgery of his own? He is listed as a bariatric surgeon on Dr. Aceves website, to have that title wouldn't he have to be a bariatric surgeon?

Can you get Ungson to work with him? He used to do surgeries with Aceves, when requested, for a nominal fee.

Dr Beltran was excellent. I had surgery with Dr Aceves July 2013 and Dr Beltran was with Dr. Aceves. Dr. Beltran is very sweet, caring and compassionate just like Dr Aceves. He cared for me throughout my stay and made sure I was doing well and that I was taken care of. He did my follow up leak test and removed my drain. He did the barium swallow and X-rays to show me how my sleeve looked. If you are concerned about results I lost all my weight within 7 months. I went from 201 to 120. It has been an amazing journey. He learned from a master. Dr Aceves was a serious doctor and he treated he was not the "celebrity" type with the radio shows and Youtube videos but his reputation spoke for itself. His team runs like a well oiled machine. They know what to do. You will be in excellent hands!

I am scheduled to be at the clinic and have the surgery on August 11th. I am comfortable with the clinic and will not be making any changes. It would have been nice to have been told by the clinic and not learn about the tragedy here but I work in a medical center and do understand that this happens.

Please keep us informed of your experiences and keep up the good work! We are on our way to a incredibly important journey!

Dr. Aceves did my surgery in February 2014. He is in my opinion the best Dr. He is a caring compassionate Dr. He really took the time with me and the other patients there at the time. I was so saddened to hear about his death. However I just came back from Mexicali on July 29th, I went back to get my follow up done and to see how everybody is doing. It's a horrible loss for the whole team and the family members. Like true professional form as Dr. Aceves wanted, they are moving forward, Dr. Aceves wouldn't want what he had taken so many years to build to crumble because he is gone. Dr. Beltran did move in and take over and Dr. Campos is still there assisting as well. The ladies, Carla, Yolanda, and Nina are also still as nice as they can be and are doing great under the circumstances. I truly trust that whole team and would recommend highly their services. I am healthy and happy because of them and would do it again in a minute even without Dr. Aceves. May he rest in peace.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
