food addiction + band = ????

I can relate to all of your posts.....I crave, eat huge portions to feel full and then I'm thinking "what will I eat next when I don't feel so stuffed". My biggest worry is the pre op diet. How did you all handle this? Were you able to stick with it? Were you miserable and starved for 2 weeks?

Here is what my pre op diet looks like. I dont know how I will ever make it. When I even think about it now, I have to run eat something. I'm assuming one serving will be MUCH smaller than the "servings" I am used to. LOL

Meal 1- 1 serving of 2 of the following: (yogurt, fruit, Cereal, toast, Bagels, waffles, muffins, eggs, or oatmeal).

Meal 2- 1 serving of Myocel (protein shake)

Meal 3- 1 serving of any type lean meat or fish (chicken, pork, turkey, ham, steak, etc.) and 1 serving of green vegetables (lettuce, peas, broccoli, green Beans, spinach, etc.)

Meal 4- 1 serving of Myocel (protein shake)

Thanks!

Yes this whole experience has been quite a lesson for me as far as personal responsibility and dealing with my eating issues. To me it's kind of like any other issue, If you are a recovered alchohilic you are STILL an alcholic. For me, I'm a fat girl and when I finish loosing all my weight I'll still be a fat girl. I like to eat, and that's all there is to it. Learning how to contol it with the band is an experience, Ive been banded since 02-16 and I still have a ways to go. I've lost 20 lbs, lots of inches, and it's easy to get frustrated. This morning, I was trying to eat some pancakes and I simply could not get but amlost just 1 of them down. I did not want to eat 3/4 of a pancake. I wanted both of them, not becasue I was necessarily hungry but because i wanted more of the delecious pancake flavor. The band is a reality check and that's seriously what I need. Just keep reminding yourself of your goal. It makes it a lot easier. It does take time, but give yourself time. You'll be glad you did it

Hi , Just joined and I'm hoping to get banded next month. Reading your post is like reading my life story! My main concern is also that I will continue to crave food and my old habits (i.e. I don't eat because i'm hungry!) will not be overcome. It's good to read that so many of you have the same fears and indeed have overcome them. I am having this surgery in Ireland and it's relatively new here so there's not much of a choice when it comes to surgeons , not sure if thats a good thing or not! Anyone else had surgery in Dublin??

Just make sure you mainly eat Protein. That really helps with the hunger, and takes cravings away. Then, make sure you stay on top of your fills. You will still be hungry or think you are hungry, if you don't get a fill.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
