Newly diagnosed Multiple Sclerosis Sleever. Are there any others, I need your advice.

Recommended Posts

After going through multiple surgeries and hospitalizations over the last 6 years, I just found I have MS. Are there any other Sleevers dealing with MS? How do you handle your medication and treatment? What helps and what should I expect to experience? Any advice would be appreciated.

So sorry to hear of your MS diagnosis. I cannot offer you any help or suggestions as I am not an MS patient, but I just wanted to offer my support and hope that you get some good feedback from other sleevers who are dealing with MS. This must be such an overwhelming time in your life.

Take care.

Thank you for your response and support. I heard from three fellow sleevers so far, and I hope others will respond soon.

Thank you. My life during the last 6 years has consisted of one hospitalization/surgery after another.

What is it like for you to live with ms daily? I know generally what the symptoms are, but do you find it harder or different post sleeve? Is inflammation, pain, spasms, etc worse now? I am sorry you have to live with ms and wish the best for you. Maybe there will be a cure in the near future because just managing symptoms is a hard life.

Hi Fiddleman,

Thank you for your reply. I have balance issues which causes me to fall, or stumble. I also have spells of blurred vision. I'm on oral medicine daily now and hopefully that will work. The next step would be an injectable medicine three times weekly, or a monthly IV. I have other neuro issues which complicates the disease, and makes it harder to determine which symptom belongs to a certain disease.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
