I'm so bummed. I had my surgery yesterday morning and felt absolutely amazing afterwards. Dr was thrilled with how well it went. This morning I developed a headache that didn't want to go away. I had the drink test to make sure I wasn't leaking and everything was fine.

One hour before I was set to be released, my head hurt so bad that I became nauseous. They have me zofran through my IV and I felt better immediatley.

Now I'm sitting at home with the killer headache and vomiting. Sips of Water make me throw up. I called the nurse and she thinks I need to go to ER. I am so bummed :(

Sorry to hear you're feeling so bad - and agree with comment above, I hope you are in the ER now. Fever is not good.

I had a similar experience. Head pounded like nothing on earth. I phoned my surgeon who asked if I drank much coffee before my surgery of which I told him I did. It turned out I was having withdrawals from caffiene. Hard lesson to learn. I do hope you are feeling a little better today xx

I had my surgery Thursday 6/19 too! I'm home but I'm still dealing with nausea! I think it's from the severe gas pains I also am running a low grade fever too! Praying this gas subsides soon!

Well lastnight I was in contact with the doctor and he thinks the headache was from the anesthesia and the nausea was from the headache. They called me in suppositories for nausea and that helped tremendously. They said if my fever was above 101.5 to go in. It never got above 100.9, then went away this morning! I feel SO much better.

The nurse and I have been texting all morning. She told me not to push the Protein yet until I feel better. I'm keeping my liquids down just fine!

The scale this morning said I've lost 20lbs!

I'll take it :)

It's a little better today, but the gas still hurts a lot! I'm barely eating/drinking anything on this clear liquid phase cause it all hurts!

I know it gets better day by day and I'm looking forward to this journey, I just have to make it thru this first week!! Baby steps....

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
