HI, I'm on day 5 from post-op, but each am, I wake up like I am in a room full of smoke. Everything is fuzzy and it takes about 1-1/2 hrs to clear up? I'm getting plenty of liquids in and Protein Shakes. I'm also spilling large amounts of ketones in my urine, but doc seems to think that is normal (ketones break down the fat!) but can be dangerous with folks who are type 1 diabetics like me. Need to look out for vomiting and more nausea. Just wondering about the fuzzy vision in the am... Anyone else have that? Six holes in my belly, but all are good but one... Still sore in one spot so that must be the one where they pulled my stomach out of!!

Fuzzy vision seems typical after surgery. Almost everyone I've talked to with surgery during my week had it for about the first week. Mine was really bad. Gradually it just disappeared.

Never experienced it and never heard of it. Does your doc say that's normal too or just the ketones I your urine?

Good to hear that others have seen this. Probably leftovers due to anesthesia. surgeon hasn't answered me yet on this one. I called today and he hasn't called back. Diabetes doc was the one who said ketones was normal. thanks!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
