Hello had my surgery one week ago today. Since I have been home I have not lost any weight. I am feeling a bit discouraged. Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? I drink plenty of Water, can't finish any food I eat. Help!

Well 7 days post op I was not eating any food at all only water and Protein Drinks, not sure how your diet or nut advise is but every body is different don't compare yourself to anyone else's result. Listen to your body make sure you feel ok and next thing you know your scale will be moving downward, there is not reason why it should not. Patience is key!

I didn't lose weight the first week either, I gained 6 lb from the IV fluids. The second week I lost that 6 lbs, the 3rd week I finally was getting below my surgery weight. I was a slow starter but it picked up month two. I'm now 12 weeks out today and am down 41 lbs from my surgery day (75 lbs since pre-op).

I had mine on the 28th, dont worry the loss is coming. I gained 10+ lbs during surgery. It must be all the fluids.

I'm 8 days out and have lost only 6lbs. I stared at 212lb but was 200 at surgery because of the liquid pre op diet. But my doctor made it very clear that most people do not lose any weight the first few weeks. He said is definiately from all the fluids.

Don't be discouraged! I'm convinced that next week will be better. Remember not to weigh yourself every day. Pick one day and stick to it. Otherwise you'll make yourself crazy.

I had surgery last Tuesday and was told the same as most everyone else..I was told not to even step on the scale until my first post-op appointment. My doc said with a combo of the iv fluids and our bodies going into a "mini" starvation mode due to not eating much or anything at all after surgery will cause our bodies to cling to everything.

That is true, your body goes into starvation mode, and holds onto all the calories, Water weight, this will pass. Don't forget to walk walk walk

Walking has even gotten hard. I'm so weak and have such horrid constipation! I'll be glad I get more variety after next week. Not to mention the weather in Chicago has been yucky. :(

I used MOM today and it worked some. Just feel icky and gassy. Makes it hard to drink what I should.

I'm walking around my block then I need a nap so I get it. We are not to far from each other, I live a little more than an hour northwest of Chicago

I am waiting until my first post-opp appointment to weigh in. I do not want to get a discouraging result because of volatility from retaining fluids.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
