Just tried to post this, not sure what happened. Any who, long story short - I am still on fluids and not loosing weight. Frankly I am despondent today as I don't know what to do. Any ideas. Thank you.

Hang in there! I'm pre op, but I see posts like these a lot and experienced peeps always chime in to say that it's normal and that the scale will move again. I'm on pre-op and went about 5 days with no change and had that same worry of will I never lose another pound even after surgery? But then I dropped a few more pounds in the following few days. Stay focused on the long term and you will get there!

Experienced peep here to say please. please, please GET OFF THE SCALE! I know it's a tough addiction to break, we seem to go from food addiction to scale addiction, but I am here to tell you, too much scale is like too much food. it is counterproductive and directly affects our mood. We can't allow Water weight, surgery weight, and daily weight fluctuations to dictate to us how we feel.

Weigh no more than once a week, at the same time of day. Then get your scale out of your sight! If you do this, you will see the pounds drop. As for me, I had a low BMI to begin with, so I am a "slow loser", but I don't weigh often enough to worry about it. Every once in while, I seem to be averaging about 2.5 weeks right now, I drop in to my bariatric center to get weighed by their well-calibrated and reliable scale. I usually see a 4-5 pound decrease in weight, which feels pretty darn good. If I weighed daily, I would only see tiny fluctuations in the right direction, and probably many in the wrong direction. This way I know, what is off is off for good! :)

You are doing the right thing, and I hope you don't let your scale addiction get you down! :)

Thank you both for your replies. I will stop getting weighed every day. It is hard though because the more I weigh, and the slower the weight seems to move the more I want to get weighed. I know it's silly, but I never really thought about it before.

I'll get weighed next week and fingers crossed for good news. In the mean time Thesuse2000 good luck with your up and coming surgery. Also Teachamy CONGRATS on your post op weight loss it really gives me hope.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
