Seems like most doctors do 6 weeks out. I'm lucky and get 5 weeks post op next wednesday. Everyone assured me fills are a breeze.

My first is under fluoroscopy so they can check how everything is moving.

You should ask your doctor. Every doctor will be different and each doctor may also formulate your fill structure based on your progress. The short answer is, there is no standard fill schedule that all doctors follow.

Email or call your clinic and ask them. I doubt they bite ;)

I got first fill at 6 week. I was very nervous. I'm not afraid of shots but I had visions of it being terrible.

I can't even begin to tell you what a non issue it was. He had the needle in and was talking to me before I even knew what happened. Didn't even feel it.

Second fill was a little different but only slightly. This time when the needle went in, I felt a pretty big pinch. Nothing painful but it did wake me up a bit. When he pulled the needle out, I bled a lot. Blood actually dropped to the floor on my shoes. And by the next day I had a pretty large bruise that lasted about 2 weeks. I'm probably making it sound more dramatic than it actually was. While it certainly wasn't as easy as the first one, it was still no big deal.

So far, for me, the fills are super easy and I realize now I wasted a lot of time worrying about them. I'm in and out of his office in less than 20 minutes. And 15 of those 20 minutes are spent waiting for the doctor.

Good luck! Everyone is different of course but I hope your future fills are as easy as mine have been so far.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
