Restarting fills after lapse in time.

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have a question. I had the adjustable lap band surgery back in 2010 and only had one fill. We then retired and moved to New Mexico and I failed it find a doctor here to do the fills. This was my fault as I was loosing weight and then just didn't look for a doctor. Now I want to get back on tract and get a fill. Is it too late? Will I have. To start over? Any advise or. Has anyone had a similar problem? Appreciate any feed back.

it's never to late. it all depends on the doctor you see about the fills. I would imagine you would get a fill in relation to the size of your band. but every doctor is different about things. welcome back and I wish you well

I would imagine you'll have to endure a Q&A from the doctor to evaluate where you are in your journey. Just be honest and trust he/she knows what to do? Since it's been so long a fill under fluoroscopy would be your best choice if you have one? jmo

I had a fill last week after we found only 4 cc in rather then 7.5 I was told by other doctor when I left him. I have to start my thinking about food all over again. wish me luck. started at350 lost 80 kept most off til married 2 years ago gained back a lot.330 starting again...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
