Calcium Citrate with D

Recommended Posts

For those of you who have calcium citrate on their required Vitamin list, what are you using? I have Citrical "petites" which I assure you are not "petite" as the bottle indicates. They may be smaller than the regular ones but one certainly requires more than a sip of beverage to get it down!!! They are tough going down and I have to take 4 daily. UGH!

Frankly, I can never find exactly what they recommend to take so I have to do my best. I have Calcium wafers that say bariatric support on the container. They are chewable (and big). Do you have a pill cutter or crusher? That can help. I have to cut my antacids every morning. Otherwise, try to find chewables.< /p>

I take Citracal Maximum. These are horse pills. Originally I thought I was suppose to take 3 a day but it turns out that the dosage (630 mg of calcium) is based on taking 2 tablets. So my nutritionist informed me of my mistake and as a result I take 6 a day. In the beginning I had to crush these down to powder and mix them in a drink to swallow them. It was awful tasting. But by the 3rd month, I was able to swallow them whole and then it stopped being a problem.

I am now a year post-op and have cut myself down to 4 tablets a day. This is because I drink plenty of milk for my Protein requirement and my body appears to be absorbing some of the Calcium from the milk. This is what my blood tests have shown.

I use Celebrate calcium citrate Chews in berry flavor. They also come in carmel or chocolate. I take two 3x a day and they are good tasting.

I know of individuals that use calcium citrate Chews from costco which come in carmel or chocolate.< /p>

I have in the past used the Celebrate Citrate chewable Tablets in cherry tart and those were good too.

Celebrate makes one more Calcium Citrate a Soft Chew and those are good also.

I was also told by my surgeon and nutritionist that my Vitamins had to be chewables except for Vitamin D3 and Omega 3. With bypass you have a better absorption with chewables.

I use Bariatric Advantage chews in lemon, raspberry, and caramel. Bariatric Advantage also has a chewable lozenge/wafer in cherry that is really tasty. All of these are delicious.

I am almost a month out and I take Bariatric Advantage chewable 500 Carmel bites, one chew 2x's a day. They go down smooth and are so good you want another. They look like Carmel and easy to chew. The also have vitamin D3 included.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
