Newbie, Introducing myself

Recommended Posts

Hi! I'm a 32 year old wife and mother of three beautiful children. I am pursuing Laproscopic Gastric Bypass. I've gone through the 6 month supervised diet twice, once with my primary care physician and once with a registered dietician. I have my insurance approval and am waiting for my pre op appointment and my pretesting and meeting with Anesthesia.

I started having struggles with my weight as a teenager. I put on over 100 pounds in one year due to medication, and continued to gain weight steadily over the years. I have tried so many things during the years to lose weight, including participating in medical studies, diet efforts, exercise efforts, group weight loss support groups and counseling. I've never been able to maintain weight loss and losing more than 10-20 lbs has proven extremely difficult. I am now 200+ lbs overweight, and have sleep apnea, prediabetes, and extreme chronic pain issues from back and joint conditions resulting in very limited mobility.

My children and husband are my life and if I keep going the way I am, I will not be around to enjoy their lives or to be a participant in their lives. That is no longer an option for me. I am choosing life and I am choosing to change my circumstances, by having gastric bypass. I can't afford to fail anymore, and I will not.

Currently and up until surgery I am following a 1400 calorie a day diet and have been trying to step up my exercise (swimming) After surgery, I am most looking forward to being able to have normal experiences with my family, like taking my kids to the zoo and walking instead of using my wheelchair, going on vacation and not stressing about if I will be comfortable in an airplane or car. I am looking forward to being able to shop in regular stores for clothes, and not being ashamed to be out in public.

My surgery is scheduled for July 23, and I am nervous but very excited to start my new life.

@@Seagull00 wishing you all the best -- you've come to the right place to get help.

And all those goofy responses -- some kind of hack or something -- just ignore them.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
