I found it hard to eat Cereal after 3 weeks because you can only tolerate such a little amount .... It's not worth the effort, well for me it wasn't :-)

Can I eat cereal and milk

@@iamblessed1225

before i had surgery - my NUT said no to cereal with milk

i freaked!!!!

she said "wellllll, you can put a "littttttle" milk on top???

never did it

the drinking while eating situation

forward about 1 year + i started to have cereal with milk "on an occassion"

at 2.5 years PO , i have it sometimes, but not that often just cuz i got out of the habitt

for me, it was a good habit to slow down

i used to overdue, so i would rather not have cereal around as a temptation

good luck

kathy

I think that would violate the no drinking with meals rule that most bariatric patients must follow. Did you ask your surgeon or nut?

I asked my surgeon about Soup, which I think is a similar situation. He said I probably don't want to make (brothy) Soups a regular thing, but if I'm in a restaurant or something, a cup of soup is a fine choice. So my guess for (healthy) Cereal with milk is that it's an ok treat, but not something for every day.

It's not a great idea, for several reasons.

Cereal is high in carbs and carbs will slow your weight loss. Also your stomach is so tiny, that you should not waste precious space on carbs, when it it difficult to get enough Protein.

liquid and solid together will either fill you up too quickly or create a slurry in your stomach that passes through too quickly, allowing you to consume too many calories.

my plan allows it, but i dont understand why... cereal is high in carbs and low in nutrients, and is a trigger for for many people. at 10 months po i can eat 1/4 cup of my homemade high Protein granola and a little milk.. but it sure fills me up fast!

i would stay away from it until you feel like you really have a handle on your diet and trigger foods. (6 months or more)

My NUT suggest a small amount of a high Fiber Cereal mixed with yogurt as a boost to the digestive system. I mix 2-3 tablespoons of Kashi Go Lean cereal in with 2 oz. of greek yogurt as Breakfast a few days a week. It has lots of Protein and fiber, so I do not mind it taking up some space in my tummy!

That's a great idea to change breakfast up, been eating eggs just about every morning.

fiber is good. processed cereals arent on our menu, so we do baked oatmeal here. made with yogurt and eggs. sometimes we mix in quinoa too.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
