Calories at 6 weeks out

Recommended Posts

How many calories should I be consuming at 6 weeks out?

Can someone break that down into carbs, fats, and Protein for me as well? I cannot find my handbook.

I was eating 600 - 800 calories a day. But the amount of recommended calories is going to vary by doctor. My handbook says 50% lean Protein, 25% healthy fats, 25% carbs. In an 800 calorie diet, that's 400 calories of Protein, 200 calories of fat, and 200 calories of carbs.

Thats a complicated question. Women can lose eating 1000 to 1200 cals per day. Men 1200 to 1500 cals per day. The main goal is to eat protien first. No high calorie liquids and no grazing. Remember to get some Fiber in

I'm curious about that too. I've been tracking with myfitnesspal and feel like I'm definitely getting up to 700-800 cal a day, but others are saying they only take in 500ish. Wonder if I'm consuming too much?

I just started a similar thread: 5 weeks out and 300 cal and 30-40 Protein. ( I use my fitness pal as well). Thinking of eating 4x a day rather than just two.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
