Anyone from Virginia?

They are great at fair oaks. I had my surgery there. Have you attended the monthly meeting. I think the next meeting is on the 16th.

I have not been to any of the meetings yet, but I will be attending the one on the 16th. Do a lot of pre op folks attend those meetings?

Fab@@forty, my surgery is with Dr. Moazzez on July 6th at INOVA Fair Oaks. I am so excited! Would love to "chat" with you about your experience, please feel free to PM me if you are willing to share!

Who did you see for your psych eval? I saw someone Dr. Schroder's office recommended and it was relatively painless. I had been through it once before with lap band and knew the questions they were going to throw at me.

I saw Mary Wells with Sheltering Arms. I thought because of my back injury she would be a good fit for me and I was terribly wrong. She was cruel and mean and I reported her to the surgeon. No way am I supposed to leave a psychologists office feel g like a lower life form. If she blocks me I'm getting g a second opinion.

She definitely doesn't sound like a good fit. If you need to see someone else, let me know. I can give you the name of the psychologist I saw. She was great...albeit a little slow on paperwork. But, overall a really good experience.

Richmond here! I decided on Dr. Brengman for my surgeon but work with him, Dr. Schroder, and their new partner Dr. Barker in the OR. What a talented and caring group of surgeons!

I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. Schroder's whole practice! I had amazing care, great follow up, and unbelievable results. And, he is my biggest cheerleader! Good luck with your journey!!!

I met with Mandy the nutritionist at Dr Shroeder's office a couple days ago. She is a dollbaby, just as sweet as she can be, I called her today with a question and before she called me back she checked everything and said I was being submitted in the next couple of days. She didn't have to go to that trouble but she did. There are really wonderful people at that office. She said I should be about six weeks out now.

Hi. Just stumbled upon this thread. I am a Dr. Barker patient in Richmond. Had a band to bypass conversion on June 3rd. Looking for anyone local who wants to buddy up and share experiences.

Further in the middle, about an hour outside of Richmond in the country. Start liquids on Tuesday and syrgery is on the 11th. It's gotten close enough to be so real now, butterflies are flying????

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
