I know this seems to be a much-repeated post on other forums, but I can't help but add one myself...

I got my final insurance pre-certification approval today!!! I'm so excited to finally get it so I can start finalizing the logistics for my surgery. I will get an official date once the coordinator reviews my chest x-ray and EKG, but it appears that July 8th will be the magic date! It can't get here soon enough!

So sorry for yet another "approved" post, but I couldn't contain myself!

Congrats! It is so exciting to find out and it feels so nice to tell people who can 100% understand your excitement. When my insurance company called me I had to have them repeat the word "approved." They say it so willy nilly and don't understand how much of a fantastic life changing even for us. :)

Haha exactly! My insurance is being weird: they've pre-certified me for surgery but are balking at paying their portion of the surgical consultation. I had the surgery coordinator give me a copy of the pre-certification approval so that [a] I could see it in writing for myself :D and have it for future reference in case they balk at paying something else. Hopefully I won't have to use it!

Congratulations!!

I am so excited for you. It wasn't that long ago I got my letter in the mail so I know what a great feeling it is.

The date will be here before you know it.

Thanks! Now it feels like I have so much to get done in such a short amount of time! Two days ago, it felt like I had all the time in the world.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
