Hi all... I'm 9 weeks post op and last time I talked with my dietician she said I need to be eating anywhere from 450-650 calories. Well, when I work out (which is pretty hard), I burn roughly 700 calories. I know I should probably call her, but I'm just curious about what your dietician tells you.

Wow....that's not many calories. I know the doctors all have their own plan that they want you to follow but I know that I ate about 1,000-1,150 calories a day. I also did no exercise because of limited mobility yet I still managed to lose over 100 lbs.

Just make sure you are not putting your body into starvation mode. If you do, you won't lose the weight like you are expecting.

I'm 13 days post op, my nutritionist told me to stay under 500 calories for right now. She said as I move on later in the year it will be 1000-1200 per day. She also said keep sugars less than 10 per serving and carbs less than 15 per serving. I also starting working out, I was wondering if I should increase my Protein. I'm also still on soft/ smooth food for another 3 weeks.

I am nearly 11 months out. I only ate about 300 - 400 calories a day in the beginning and I worked out everyday. I have lost weight every week and am currently down over 190 pounds. I never went into starvation mode, have never had a stall. Follow your clinics plan and get your exercise. It really does work!

In the beginning, I was taking in between 400 and 600 calories per day. Now, at 9 weeks out, I take in between 700 and 800 calories per day. I don't work out heavily, just short, easy workouts and lots of walking. I haven't hit a stall and am steadily losing roughly 3 pounds per week.

This is the number that seems to work for me, but every doctor/program has different requirements. It might be a good idea to have another conversation with your doctor if you're concerned that you're consuming too few calories, especially since you seem to exercise pretty heavily. Good luck. :)

I had surgery march 24th and of course when I was just out of surgery I would get 350-550 a day. Now I am at about 800-900 but my doctor and nut said I really need to get to 1200 a day.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
