Good Day Everyone!!!

Today I'm one month post op (my surgery was done on 4/21). I'm doing well and feeling good but one thing has me concerned. I cannot eat more than two to three teaspoons of food before getting the feeling that I am full. I know better than to try to eat anything more when I get this feeling. I'm concerned that I may not be getting enough nutrition in my diet. I have my 8oz Protein Drink after drinking 16 oz of Water (I have no trouble meeting my drinking requirements) and I am taking all of my supplements. I mostly have a few teaspoons of either fish or poultry along with some soft veggies. In between I'll have some greek yogurt in an effort to ensure that I am meeting my Protein requirements for the day. It this enough to maintain a healthy lifestyle or better yet.....is this what I should expect for the rest of my life, not being able to eat more than a few bites each meal. Will my intake increase as I continue to heal? I am a LPN by trade therefore, I know that I am still in the healing process. I also know that in order to heal the body needs water, food, and adequate rest. Nutritional supplements are important but not as important as the nutrition we get from foods. I would love to get feedack on this from someone who is six months to a year post op. Thank you in advance for your response, God bless.

It sound like you are good. In the beginning you are surviving primarily on your Protein shakes and Vitamins. The meals are almost negligent. As time goes on you should be able to up the volume of your meals. Some foods will be harder to eat than others during the early stages. Its good to experiment and find out which foods your body can tolerate the best.

Thanks James, I'm glad to here this.i was beginning to worry that I wasn't getting enough nutrition from food. I guess this is a result of overrating and never getting full for so many years. It's just amazing how the surgery changes everything you think about food if you follow your NUT and Surgeons directions.

Sounds to me like you are doing exactly right! These first few months you will get full very quickly and will not really feel hungry. It comes back over time and you will be able to eat more as time goes on. Keep up the great work!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
