How long after surgery did you excersize

Recommended Posts

Hello all 6 days postop and still have some incision pain. I'm doing lite house choirs and a little walking. I think I'm just getting antsy and feel like I should be doing more. I take a short walk to the mailbox etc. Any support or insight is appreciated. Drinking and eating 2 oz is going fine. The pills are tough but I manage to get them down. I have my first follow up on Tuesday with Nutrician and surgeon.

I took short walks, several times a day.

If you are feeling well, increase your walks. At about a week I was walking around the block several times a day. I think getting out and walking was a big reason I did so well post surgery. Listen to your body. If you begininng to feel sore, take it down a notch, but if you are feeling well, go for it!

5 days post-op, I've been walking since second day post-op (just sort walks, gradually increasing distance) I went around the whole block yesterday and I hurt substantially more today, so I may have overdone it a bit. Just do what you can tolerate

I started walking in the hospital, four hours after surgery and little by little I increased my pace and the amount of steps I took. I'm four weeks post op and I'm walking an hour two times per day and doing aerobics, yoga, and strength training. The more you move the better you will feel. Don't push yourself when your body tells you to stop, STOP!!! But focus on gradually doing more. by week two I was walking outdoors with my dog four about five blocks and back increasing it as I felt better. whatever you decide to do, make sure it is what you like to do and then you will be more likely to wan tto do it consistently, Good luck with your plan, God bless.

I was exercising pretty hard before my surgery, so I went back to my spinning class after 2 weeks. But, I listened to my body and slowed down when I needed to, and only went 3 times a week.

So today is day 10 post op and I went to the gym and walked 1 mile on the treadmill. I tried to ride the bike..but that was not happening. I still have a very sore incision site where the drain was and it is still open. Walking felt great ...glad i went! So that was 25 minutes on the treadmill. I'll keep going everyday and trying to increase it a little. Everything is going really great! I don't have any complaints! I'm very happy with my decision to have RNY!

I also went to the gym for the first time yesterday, had my surgery may 8th. I was able to do 30 mins on the treadmill but I was definitely pushing it, started to get a few small pains on my right abdomen area so I knew to stop then. But it felt so good to go! How often do you plan on going? I really want to start on the weight machines but I think it's way to soon for that.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
