having issues with water at night

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Been a while since I visited. Time to kick it in gear again. I have a 14cc and have 10.5 in it. I have had the band for about 7 years and I am only down about 25 lbs. I originally lost 45 lbs, but have put some back on.

My question is this: After my last fill, I started experiencing Water coming up while I am sleeping. My question is it possible for the pouch to have created a pocket that could hold food in it for longer than normal.

I wonder if I am filling my pouch the way a septic system fills, and it has to be full for things to flow into my stomach?

Does this make sense?

The water issue is worse if I lay on my left side. I almost have to have my head elevated to keep this from happening.

I am also on a once a day dose of heartburn medicine. (Omeprazole)

Thanks in advance.

Big B

have you been back to see your surgeon? This sounds like it could be a dilated pouch or esophagus. Nothing to mess around with.

All I'm going to say is this...I had issues while sleeping, ans I had to re-learn one of the early rules my Dr. told me....

If I do not eat my evening dinner by a certain hour, then I don't eat till morning....

Took care of a lot of things I read people complaining of on this forum....

thanks for the replies guys

I know I am to blame for the lack of progress

my concern and my question are due to the fact that I did not have this problem until I had this last fill.

I could lay on my stomach after I had the surgery done and not have any issues.

today was day one for me I am starting over I'm going to eat sensible and I'll take your advice b52 and not eat or drink too much late at night.

if I don't see a change from changing my habits I will definitely have my doctor look at it.

one problem I have is that I am Kansas City and my surgery was done in Denver Plus that doctor has retired

You know I just was filled my third and hopefully final fill today and my Dr said I seem to be a little bit tight but I needed more restriction I feel. I usually drink in my sleep because my meds give me dry mouth. I made the mistake of doing that today, I took a sip laying down as I usually do and it started coming back up sounding like a drain.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
