Had surgery yesterday. Just got discharged from the hospital and I'm leaving as soon as my ride gets here. I'm sore, and exhausted, but I'm happy.

I'm home, and surgeon put me on full liquids before I left, so I get to have Tomato Soup and cream of wheat (thinned) and yogurt (thinned). Yum!

I am off the pain meds already. How is everyone else doing?

First day of full liquids. Had some Muscle Milk this morning and for "dinner" I had a 1/4 cup of plain Greek yogurt with 1/2 a sugar free Jello cup added in. Nice to mix in the jello since you can't have the chunky fruit in it yet.

MUCH more filling than just the Clear Liquids although the week flew by with all the hospital stays. Not hard to avoid other foods when everything available to you is on a tray labeled "clear liquids".

Looks like I'm the only one who developed a bit of a complication . I am still in the hospital. I developed a bit of pneumonia and they have me on pretty heavy antibiotics. I should go home tomorrow :)

Hi Jennifer,

You are awesome. I still have some pain, so better living through chemistry for me! Things are going well. Surgery was a breeze, as was time in the hospital. I stayed 2 days, just to be safe. I'm delighted to be home with my son...he's a huge help! So is his nanny, when she is here. My doc limited me to 4 ounces per hour of fluids....with the 30/30/30 for Breakfast, lunch and dinner, it's impossible to get my fluids and Proteins in. I want to sip more, but am afraid I'll stretch my tummy out! What's your intake per hour? Congrats on doing so well! Best, Dawn

How is everyone feeling today? I am 1 week post op today. It has not been that bad. Off pain meds since Friday I guess. I am starting puréed foods today. Ate some baby food. It went ok but I think it is is a mental issue of knowing it was baby food that messed me up lol.

I am down 12 lbs since surgery

I did have one issue with the EAS Protein Shakes. They don't sit well with me and gave me bad stomach issue. I am not sure if that was called dumping or not. But it was a bad night. I had to take milk of mag already yesterday.

Today I'm fine though feel much better

One week post op today too. Still having issues with pain. I'm already out of my liquid Norco. It's impossible to get the liquids and Protein down. I have no idea how I'm gonna do it. 2 sips of anything and I feel like I'm bursting. I never want to eat anything ever again! I have my first post-op appt tomorrow. Hopefully my surgeon can give me some pointers.

Hi Helena Marie,

I did great through surgery and while in the hospital, but haven't been doing well the last three days. I too am still having issues with pain, but luckily still have pain meds. I can't get all the liquid down without feeling like it's floating at the base of my throat. Protein is a.challenge in that I have to be very careful what to eat or risk my stomach feeling like it's going to twist right out of my body. I'm getting out and about and haven't had issues with gas. I have yet to be hungry. My 1st post op appt is a week from tomorrow. I hope all starts going better for the both of us. You'll be in my thoughts! Please share what your surgeon says.

Best,

Dawn

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
